A 48-year-old Indian-origin woman has been arrested for allegedly slashing the throat of her 11-year-old son and killing him after taking a three-day break to Disneyland. For a visit to Santa Ana, she bought three-day Disneyland passes to Disneyland for both herself and her son. From there, Ramaraju had to move out of the motel on March 19 and send her son to the father. After the divorce of the couple in 2018, Raju was awarded the custody of his son while Saritha was allowed visitation rights, court documents stated.

Ramaraju lived in Virginia's Fairfax and wanted her 11-year-old son to reside with her. She had alleged a "history of substance abuse issues" against Ramaraju, further stating that he "gets very aggressive under the influence of alcohol, drugs and smoke". She blamed Prakash Raju for having "severe control issues", averring their son is "very scared to speak to mother since he would get into trouble with dad". Raju, meanwhile, blamed his ex-wife for "grossly quoting totally false and untrue abuse and substance abuse problems".
